Ash
One of the most common species in Europe besides beech and oak. Ash is often accompanied together with other species to stimulate height growth. Ash is one of the tallest hardwood species in Europe – up to 40m and is therefore one of the most frequently used species.
Application of Ash
The good properties of ash lead to a versatile use. The combination of high strength and high flexibility is perfect for demanding requirements. It is therefore particularly suitable for stairs, sport equipment, handles and grips, but also for boat and vehicle construction.
Characteristic of Ash
The heartwood has a light to medium brown colour, though darker streaks can also be seen. Sapwood can be very wide and tends to be beige or light brown; not always clearly or sharply demarcated from heartwood. Ash wood produces good results with hand or machine tools.
